AKI signs co-opreation agreement with Moroccan counterpart
AKI and the Moroccan Federation of Insurers and Reinsurers signed an agreement of cooperation on March 24th 2022 in Casablanca, Morocco.
The mutual agreement will see the two organisations work together in areas of common interest in their respective insurance markets including motor insurance, agriculture insurance, digitization of insurance distribution channels, customer service, capacity development and overall exchange of best practice in either market.
Speaking at the signing event, the President of the Federation, Mr. Mohamed Bensalah said, “We are looking forward to learning from Kenya and also sharing our experiences with the Association of Kenya Insurers. Working together will ensure we build our capacity to develop localised solutions to issues facing our respective insurance markets.”
AKI’s Chairman Mr. Jerim Otieno noted that the partnership will provide AKI with a useful window into the happenings in the more mature North African Insurance Market. “We will be able to learn from their success stories and exchange ideas for mutual benefits to our two industries”, added Mr Otieno
The Moroccan Federation hosts an annual insurance conference in Casablanca where they identify a country of honour which they partner with. Kenya was selected as a country of honour in 2022 largely due to our insurance market digital transformation and innovation.
The two-day Conference focused on the theme Sustainable Insurance and Health Coverage Expansion. Like Kenya, the Moroccan Government is implementing Universal Health for all its citizens. As such, there was a heavy focus on the role health insurance (and micro insurance) plays in expanding health coverage, impact of COVID-19 on health care and the global trends on innovation in health insurance products and services.
